Easy-to-Apply, Versatile Joint Sealant

Flex-tex expanded PTFE is your go-to sealant in maintenance, especially when emergencies come up. This flange sealant is a soft, compressible gasketing material made of 100% pure, expanded PTFE available with an adhesive strip for easy application. It comes in a number of forms, including ribbon, tape, or valve stem packing.

With “flex” in its name, you can be sure that this sealant will be flexible to your needs and industrial equipment. It is a form-in-place gasket that conforms to virtually any sealing surface. Flex-tex meets FDA requirements and offers guaranteed strength, resistant to common chemicals, and is rated for temperatures from -400°F to 550°F compared to any other soft gasket. Strength and durability is guaranteed in the Flex-tex joint sealant. Upon compression, it forms a thin, hard ribbon that fills in surface irregularities and creates an extremely tight seal. Flex-Tex expanded PTFE Joint Sealant is an expanded virgin PTFE, manufactured in generally rectangular cross sections of widths from 1/8″ – 1″. The Joint Sealant has an adhesive backing and conforms to FDA requirements. Made of 100% PTFE, it is resistant to most common chemicals, and is rated for temperatures from -400°F to +550°F.

Flex-Tex can be used in just about any accessible bolted joint that features a flat or serrated sealing surface. It is easy to install and remove, making it a highly versatile and cost-effective solution for many demanding sealing applications.

To install Flex-Tex Joint Sealant, follow these easy installation instructions. Proper assembly will result in a form-in-place, high-density gasket that conforms to the sealing surfaces and fills in surface voids and irregularities.

  1. Select a Joint Sealant width that is 1/3-1/2 of the flange sealing surface width. A guideline for round, 150# & 300# ANSI flanges is as follows:

    Clean seal surface of dirt, grease and all other forms of debris

  2. Measure and cut off a length of Joint Sealant that is several inches longer than the mean length of the seal surface. Joint ends must overlap.
  3. Remove the peel-off backing.
  4. As diagrammed below, beginning to the left of a bolt hole, apply Flex-Tex clock-wise to the flange surface inside the bolt hole circle, overlapping the ends in an “X” fashion.
  5. Bolt up mating surfaces. Torque in a “star-type” pattern, and in steps, preferably 60%, 90%, and finally 100%. It may be necessary to make a repeat pass at 100% in the event some relaxation occurs.


Thread Sealant Tape


MPRC PTFE Thread Sealant Pipe Tape is the ideal solution for sealing threaded pipe connections up to 2″ diameter.  Our thread sealant tape provides a tight seal while providing natural lubrication to prevent damage of the threads.  Made of 100% PTFE, it is resistant to most common chemicals, and is rated for temperatures from -450°F to +550°F.  Available in four different widths and three densities, our tapes can be used in general purpose applications such as water and air, or difficult applications such as acids and even pure oxygen.

Valve Stem Packing


Flex-Tex PTFE Stem Packing (100% virgin PTFE), is a form-in-place extruded packing that will conform to stuffing box surface irregularities when compressed. It is capable of withstanding a wide range of pressure, temperature and chemical environments. Proudly made in the United States.

Installation Instructions

To install Flex-Tex Valve Stem Packing, follow these easy instructions.  Proper assembly will result in a form-in-place, high-density packing that conforms to stuffing box surface voids and irregularities.

  1. Isolate the valve pressure.
  2. Remove existing valve stem packing from the stuffing box.
  3. Clean the stuffing box and stem of any dirt or debris.
  4. Select the largest cross-section of Flex-Tex Valve Stem Packing that will fit into the stuffing box.
  5. Wind the packing around the stem with one, continuous piece, and cut when complete.
  6. Compress the Flex-Tex Valve Stem Packing by tightening the gland nut.
